What is the requirement of FCRA Registration in India?
FCRA stands
for the Foreign Contribution and Regulation Act enacted with the main objective
to regulate the inflow of foreign contribution and to ensure the foreign
contribution received is not utilized for a purpose other than specified.
NGOs such as the charitable trust, societies, and section-8 companies receive contribution or
donation from foreign sources must get FCRA Registration. In this blog, we will

All charitable
organization registered in India and received foreign contribution and fund
comes under the purview of this act. FCRA doesn't distinguish between
registered or un-registered NGOs; however, it is applicable to registered NGOs,
and unregistered can get voluntary FCRA Registration.
It can be
trickier for new establishments to get FCRA registration since FCRA authorities
based on past performances determine the genuineness of the organization. To
get FCRA registration to accept foreign grant and contribution, the entity must
apply to the Ministry of Home Affairs in the prescribed form.
In case the entity is not registered with the central government can accept foreign the contribution provided, it shall mandatorily get permission to accept foreign
contribution and such permission remain valid for the specified purpose only.

· Applicant must be a Non-Profit Organization
registered under the following acts:
ü Trust
registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882
ü Society registered under Societies Registration Act 1860
ü Section-8Company registered under Companies Act 2013
· NPO seeking for FCRA registration must be
incorporated with main objectives to promote social welfare, education, art,
culture & religion, sports, charitable activities, etc.
· The organization is not specifically prohibited
from receiving foreign grants under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.
Online FCRA Registration Process

· Visit the official website of FCRA https://fcraonline.nic.in/ and click "FCRA
Online Form."
· Thereafter you will be re-directed to the next
page, which displays all the FCRA forms. Select Form FC3, which is “application
for FCRA registration."
· Sign up to FCRA account by filing necessary
details such as name, email-id, mobile number, Darpan Id, PAN of association,
user-id, and password
· Once the details are successfully added and
saved, login credentials are created, you can proceed further to register for
FCRA
· Login the account and fill the registration form
by filing complete necessary details as required
· Complete the executive committee form thereafter
and enter all executive committee details
· Upload necessary documents and bank details in
PDF format and finally submit the application
· Upon the receipt of the application, FCRA
authority requires further information can raise the order demanding the same.

Post-FCRA Registration Requirement
Once the
entity gets FCRA Registration successfully, it needs to comply with the
provisions stated in the act. The registered entity must file an annual return
in prescribed Form FC-4. The registered entity is also required to maintain
proper accounts and records consisting of full details of foreign contribution
received along with the details of its utilization. Filing of return is
